Love - The Master Key
It is interesting to note that Jesus only ever gave us one commandment, that we love one another (John 13:34). This was not meant as an additional, or 11th, commandment, to be added to the Ten Commandments of Moses. Rather, this one new commandment envelopes all of the commandments that came before and much more.
Consider Romans 13 -
”8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” [b]“You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”
Love is surely not the only thing a Christian needs. But, love makes the way for all other things to move and flow clearly according to the will of God for our lives.
Consider these scriptures,
1 John 2:10-11 - “10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes." - Love determines whether you walk in life with the light, with no reason to stumble, having knowledge and wisdom, or you walk in hate and darkness, without knowledge, living a confused life. You can say - LOVE OPENS THE WAY FOR KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM.
Galations 5:6 - ”6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” From this scripture, we determine that LOVE OPENS THE WAY FOR FAITH.
1 Peter 3:7 - “7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” This scripture talks about a husband loving his wife as he should, and that the failure to do so leads to the husband’s prayers being hindered. Therefore, from this scripture we deduce that LOVE KEEPS THE WAY OPEN FOR PRAYERS TO BE UNHINDERED.
Ephesians 3:17-19 - “17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” We understand here that LOVE OPENS THE WAY FOR COMPREHENSION and KNOWING THE LOVE OF GOD WILL SEE YOU FILLED WITH ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD.
Love opens the way for all of these other areas of your life to be successful. Jesus knew best that one commandment of love could outdo all the other commandments that came before. Praise God for His wisdom.
